Compadres Feast

Flower Festival

With the arrival of Spring, the city of Funchal turns into a inebriating floral stage filled with enchantment. The magic of this event starts on Saturday morning, with the Children’s Parade, on which, hundreds of children dress for the occasion dishallow to the Município Square where, a beautiful flower mural is built, symbolically named “the Wall of hope” (Muro da Esperança).

Altantic Festival

The Wine Festival relives the time-honoured traditions of the Madeiran population surrounding the production of this exquisite wine. In the centre of Funchal there are light, sound and folk shows connected to traditional wine-making also wine actions and workshops to simply enjoy wine tasting.This event is hosted by the Madeira Wine Institute on Rua 5 de Outubro, Funchal.

Christmas And New Year Celebrations

The arrival of the decorative lights in the streets of the city centre of Funchal, during the month of December, marks the beginning of the Christmas and New Year festivities. These commemorations consist of a rich and extensive programme of cultural, religious, ethnographic and artistic manifestations that takes place throughout the entire month of December and ends with the celebration of Twelfth Night.
